Stars and Trees

All the time the stars lace the skies,
Like breathing things among the dark,
I stand and stare like all would do,
Waiting for that shooting spark,

While I know the timing's right,
The scattered doubt and fears do flee,
I hold the promised in my hands,
Rooted solid like oaken trees,

Here is carried all the weight,
Laying down the burdens low,
With heart outstretched  within the night,
My spirit steady as it glows,

Who can say which stars will fall,
Why so many choose to stand,
Like sentinals on forever watch,
My roots now digging within this land,

All these years of running free,
Have brought me here to ground,
I find the wandering is gone in me,
My life now seasoned in Him be found.
